Whisky

If you love a tipple then you are spoilt for choice in Caithness.  As well as our local distillery Dunnet Bay Distillers, there are several others to visit.

The oldest in the county is Old Pulteney in Wick.  Founded in 1826, at the time, it was the most northerly distillery on mainland Britain and was only accessible by sea.

At John O'Groats, 8 Doors Distillery is newly opened distillery and has already won Tourism Destination of the Year at the  Scottish Whisky Awards 2023.

Worth watching is the future of Castletown Mill which is located at the end of Dunnet Bay.  The mill is being renovated by the Murray family, founders of Dunnet Bay Distillers and is soon to become a whisky distillery and visitor centre.  Follow Stannergill Whisky

And if you've still not had enough to drink then visit North Point Distillery in Forss and Wolfburn Distillery, Thurso.
